We recommend using The Snuffle Buddy for feeding regular meals if your rescue eats quickly. The first few times, make sure its supervised so you can help your dog find the kibble and they don't get discouraged or start ripping it apart. Sit with your dog on the floor, pour a bunch of kibble and help them find each one. If they're struggling and pulling on the felt, point to the obvious, easy kibble and walk them through every step until they're done. Then shake it out show them there’s nothing left and put it away. The more they do that the more they can do it without ripping or shaking.
You can use The Snuffle Buddy to slow down mealtime (if you're feeding with kibble). For treats, all dry kinds will work, the smaller the better. If they're large, you can break them up or cut them so they fit nicely inside the grooves.
This will work for all size dogs.
Make sure to fully supervise your dog at first so they understand how to use The Snuffle Buddy. Guide them through the first use, showing that food/treats are hidden and that they should use their nose to sniff out where food is located. This way, they understand it's about foraging, not destroying.
Make sure your dog is supervised until they understand how to play with it. Most importantly, they learn to forage for the treats/food and do not rip it to shreds.
